Ace the HPAT: Success Story & Preparation Tips
Sean enrolled in our course in 2021/22 and scored in the 99th percentile in the HPAT exam that year, going on to study medicine in 2022. He shares some experiences here.
Ace the HPAT proved to be an incredibly valuable resource as I prepared for the HPAT. Although it was my first time using Ace the HPAT, it wasn’t my first time preparing for the exam. What set this program apart was its ability to create a competitive, exam-like environment, giving me a realistic sense of what to expect on the actual day. During the classes, I could actively track how my classmates were performing, which reinforced the importance of outperforming as many people as possible to succeed. The mock exams were also highly effective in mimicking the types of questions encountered in the real test. I would strongly recommend Ace the HPAT to both first-time and repeat exam takers.
One of the most challenging yet valuable lessons I learned was mastering timing and knowing when to move on from a question. While it may sound like simple advice, prioritizing your time management during the exam can give you a critical edge over other candidates. Now, in my fourth year of university, it’s a skill I’ve continued to rely on, proving its worth in both academic and exam settings.
Another key piece of advice is to start your HPAT preparation early and set aside dedicated time on weekends. Consistently practicing under proper exam conditions by taking as many mock exams as possible is also something I highly recommend.
